Osun state governor, Ademola Adeleke and a lawmaker representing Obokun state constituency, Adewumi Adeyemi have advocated for massive participation of youths and fresh graduates in agricultural sector.
The lawmaker also urged government at all levels to provide student loan to willing fresh graduates and youth to tackle issue of unemployment and food inflation.
The duo spoke during a programme tagged ProjectYouthSpark organised by School of Politics, Policy and Governance in Osogbo, Osun State, where over 200 youths were selected to participate.
Adeleke, in his address, noted that his administration has taken many strategic steps to tackle unemployment in the state, highlighting job fairs, agro-industrial activities, vocational trainings among others steps taken to abate the challenge.
In his speech, the lawmaker said: “Like student loan, federal government should give youths and graduates Agric loans to those who are willing. Federal government should give this loans to youth who have shown capacity in this area.Agric is a way to grow, no matter the development of Artificial Intelligence(AI), everybody will still need to eat.”
The team lead for the ProjectYouthSpark, Olufemi Olaosun explained: “The project is designed to equip and empower young people in Osun State. For the few weeks we are going to train 200 youths on job hunting and we are going to give some of them grant for business.”
