
The leadership of the All-Africa Students’ Union, AASU, has expressed appreciation to the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on the appointment of Comrade Kappo Olawale Samuel, as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students’ Union Affairs, Tertiary Education.
In a statement on Friday signed by Abrhaley Arefaine Hailenchael, the Executive Director to the Presidency, All-Africa Students’ Union, the body said the appointment was well deserved given the antecedents of Kappo in student unionism in Nigeria.
“I have instructions of the President of the All-Africa Students’ Union – HE Osisiogu Osikenyi Enyinnaya, to on behalf of the continental students’ movement appreciate His Excellency, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for appointing Comrade Kappo Olawale Samuel as the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Students’ Union Affairs – Tertiary Education, Lagos State.
“Considering his rich student leadership background; we believe that Comrade Kappo Samuel Olawale’s contributions to the development of education and tireless efforts towards promoting quality education and creating an enabling environment for students in Nigeria over the years have earned him this well-deserved appointment.
“This statement also comes to heartily congratulate Comrade Kappo Olawale Samuel on his appointment as the Senior Special Assistant on Tertiary Education to Lagos State Governor; and express the commitment of the continental student body to partner with his good office to deliver on the dividends of his office.
“AASU would love to use this medium to announce an Annual “Babajide Sanwo-Olu Public Symposium on Quality Education in
Africa” to be held in Lagos in honour of the sterling education policies of the Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu led administration in Lagos; as a prototype for Africa; and hereby appoint Cde Olawale Kadri to chair the Continental Standing Committee on the Symposium.
