Itel Unveils Budget-Friendly Phone For NDU Students

Itel, a global smartphone brand, has introduced Itel A70 phone to the students of Niger Delta University (NDU), Wilberforce Island, Amassoma, Bayelsa State, in an entertaining way.

The brand, during a campus concert at NDU to create awareness about the device, said Itel A70 was a budget friendly phone.

During ‘More Than Awesome’, as the concert was tagged, music contest and quiz were organised for students to participate and win Itel A70 smartphones, ear pods, power banks, accessories and others.

The Head of Corporate Social Responsibility Unit, Partnerships and Events, Mrs. Taiwo Ogunpaimo, said the concert, which featured music superstar, Ice Prince, was aimed at entertaining and creating awareness for Itel A70 and other accessories.

Besides the star artiste, the event also featured upcoming artistes drawn from the institution, as well as dancing, singing, hyping and other competitions with the winners going home with gifts and cash prizes.

Ogunpaimo said the event was used to introduce the new Itel A70 phone to the students in an entertaining way, noting that it was loaded with awesome packages as part of the firm’s corporate social responsibility.

She said: “The More than Awesome Campus Storm is to introduce the new Itel A70 phone to the people that we consider our core target and customers – the youth, and we have come to introduce this phone to them in an entertaining way, through the language they understand, social activity and this is exactly what we are doing.

“We have not come alone; we are also here with Google. The phone is running on Google Android operating system (OS) and there are Google apps on the phone that make things easy for the students and youths.

“You will agree with me that many of these students have become content creators and with the YouTube Google apps, it makes creating content and posting about their lifestyles easier for them.

“We also have the Google maps that help them to navigate their day to day movements within the city and outside.

“The Itel A70 is very beautiful with a sleek design and has the most interesting functionality that everyone should be using at this time, especially if you want more from a phone but you don’t want to pay so much for it. Itel A70 is the answer to all of that.”

Ogunpaimo said through the concert, the firm had recorded much sales, as the students community and other youths understood why they came and the benefits to be derived from the product.

She said: “The students understand why we are here and they are jumping on the opportunity. We have also brought the A70 phoneit here on a discount. Once you buy the Itel A70 phone you are getting a power bank and speaker. This is something you will not get at the dealer store.”

The NDU SUG President, Apiri Precious, welcomed the product, saying students were excited, coupled with the fun the concert had brought to them.

Apiri said:  “This is the second programme Itel has held in this institution and I want to say a very big thank you to Itel and the organisers because there are a whole lot of schools in Nigeria, yet they came to our school.

“When I asked them to come to our school, without hesitation they accepted it and this request is based on the fact that we want to bring social life to the school and also to publicise our school. We call for more vendors to come and invest in terms of building hostels and other things that we really need.

“A lot of people don’t know that this kind of school is existing and programmes like this will help in publicising and bringing the school to the limelight.”

An upcoming Afrobeat artiste and a student of the institution, Edeisemekumo Perekade, hailed Itel Nigeria for giving him a platform to showcase his talent.

Perekade noted: “I want to thank Itel Nigeria for giving me this opportunity; it is a platform for me to advertise myself, showcase my talent because I am an artiste, I play Afrobeat. So I got a platform to perform and show myself and from there I got some fans, so it was awesome and nice for me because the crowd was encouraging. “
