Waziri Umaru Federal Poly Pays for 40 Academic Staff Postgraduate Studies
The Waziri Umaru Federal Polytechnic, Birnin Kebbi (WUFPBK), has sponsored about 40 academic staff of the institution for postgraduate studies within and outside the country in the last five years.
According to the Rector, Alhaji Sani Aliyu, 32 of the beneficiaries, including 12 doctorate and 20 master degree holders, had since completed their studies while the remaining eight were still pursuing their programmes at the various universities.
Aliyu said four of the beneficiaries had been “outstanding and worthy of celebration”.
He said one of them, Ademola Adeyemi, obtained PhD in Egronomics / Human Factors Engineering and won the IEA Ku Smith award that attracted 3,000 dollars cash prize.
He said that Dr. Rabiu Idris won the best PhD graduating student award at the Federal University of Technology, Minna, while Yahuza Bande obtained his PhD in an unprecedented record time at the Putra University in India.
The rector disclosed that another lecturer, Mr Nordian Osagie, graduated with distinction in Finance and exceptional academic performance at the Malaysia National University.
He said that all the programmes offered by the polytechnic had been accredited and approved by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) and the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE).
Aliyu said the intervention programmes from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) had assisted the institution improve on academic performance.
He urged other academic staff to be inspired by the achievements of the scholars who have made the institution proud.
