Jaden Smith recently disclosed that his mother, Jada Pinkett Smith, was the one who introduced their entire family to psychedelic drugs during a family trip, resulting in stronger bonds among them.
Speaking at the Psychedelic Science conference in Denver, Jaden shared that it was his mom who took the initial step, stating, “I think it was my mom, actually, that was really the first one to make that step for the family. It was just her for a really, really long time, and then eventually it just trickled and evolved, and everybody found it in their own ways.”
Jaden also expressed how the use of psychedelics has profoundly impacted his relationships with his sister and half-brother, fostering love and empathy among them.
He acknowledged that, like many siblings, they used to argue and fight, but the psychedelic experiences have helped them find a deeper connection.
“The level of love and empathy that I can feel for them inside of the [psychedelic] experiences and outside of the experiences has been something that’s profound and beautiful,” he explained. “It will actually help us to open up our minds to get out of the old ways of thinking that got us into lots of these arguments and open it up so that it just releases and makes room for you to work it out and massage it out until it’s completely gone.”
While Jaden did not specify the exact psychedelic drug they had tried, there are various types such as psilocybin (commonly known as mushrooms), ayahuasca, LSD (Lysergic acid diethylamide), and mescaline.
It’s worth noting that Jaden’s father, Will Smith, has previously discussed his experiences with the psychedelic drug ayahuasca during challenging periods in his marriage.
Will mentioned undergoing a “detoxing” process and finding contentment through the drug, having taken it 12 times.
Jada Pinkett Smith and Will share two children, Jaden and Willow, while Will also has a son, Willard Smith III, from his previous marriage to Sheree Zampino, who is commonly known as Trey Smith.
