43 Pioneer Medical Graduates of Nile University Inducted as Medical Doctors

The pioneer students of Nile University’s College of Health Science(CHS),graduated with their Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) degrees and were inducted into full medical practice on Wednesday 31 May 2023.

The attestation ceremony had in attendance all 43 students from the graduating class, proud parents, esteemed faculty members, and government dignitaries including the immediate-past governor of Kaduna State, His Excellency, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai CON, Former Minster of Transportation Mu’azuJaji Sambo, the Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria(MDCN) Dr. Tajudeen A. Sanusi, Medical Elder Associate Professor Fatima KyariFWACS MSc Ph.D.FNAMed, among others.

The Vice Chancellor of Nile University of Nigeria Prof. Dilli DogoFNAMed, in his welcome address to the distinguished guests and students, congratulated all the students for successfully completing their medical studies, he expressed his pride and joy and thanked the medical graduates and parents for keeping faith with Nile University during the challenging journey of training and mentorship that has culminated into the day of celebration.

Prof. Dogo highlighted the immense contributions of the Honoris United Universities Network since taking ownership of the Nile University of Nigeria in 2020. He stated that “the education for impact mission of Honoris United Universities Network is made manifest and can be seen in the huge infrastructural investments, human capital development, and provision of a conducive learning and working environment for Nile University’s students and Staff.”

The Vice-Chancellor also attributed the successes recorded by Nile University’s College of Health Sciences to the strategic partnerships with reputable government and private hospitals, for the setting up of the Nile University Teaching Hospital (NUTH) under the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) and the private partnership with Nizamiye Hospital.  He expressed appreciation to the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN), the National Universities Commission (NUC), the Joint Admission and Matriculations Board (JAMB), and other Professional and regulatory agencies for their continued support and contributions to the standards of practice.

Nile University of Nigeria presented the top three students in the Medical Class of 2022 with award prizes, medical gadgets, monetary rewards, and 100% scholarships to pursue postgraduate studies in public health at the university.

The best-graduating students from the pioneer set are:

  • Ummi Sani Danbatta, who received 10 distinctions.
  • Zainab Yakubu Lado, who received 8 distinctions and
  • Ameerah GbemisolaJimoh, who also received a total of six distinctions.

While commenting on her achievements, Dr. Ummi Dambatta, the overall best graduand who completed her medical studies with 10 distinctions in her 10 courses, attributed her success to the unwavering support she received from her family, friends, colleagues, lecturers, and the Nile University of Nigeria.

Dr. Dambatta advised all students, particularly those studying medicine, to “always strive for excellence, believe in yourself, study, work hard, be polite to your parents, professors, and colleagues, and always pray.” She concluded.

The Attestation ceremony for Nile University’s pioneer medical students was filled with pride, pleasure, and emotion for all of those in attendance, including students, parents, staff, and dignitaries.
