Sanwo-Olu Cancels Lagos Public Activities For Train Crash Victims

Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has cancelled all of the State’s public activities scheduled for Thursday following the death of three persons in an accident involving a train and a Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) vehicle, along PWD railway crossing, Ikeja.

Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr Segun Dawudu, stated this at a programme at the Point View Event Centre Ikeja, where the Governor was scheduled to meet over 2,000 youths.

Dawudu said the cancellation was in honour of the victims of the crash.

The fully loaded bus collided with the train in the early hours of Thursday killing two women and a man, and leaving many others severely injured.

The youths, who were already seated, were asked to go home as the event had been rescheduled.

Dawudu said the event tagged: “Youth timeout with the governor”, will now hold next week as Governor Sanwo-Olu was visiting the injured in the hospital and would not make it to the event.

He expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the accident and promised that the state government would provide all necessary support to those who were injured.

Dawodu implored all Lagosians to say a word of prayer for the departed souls.

Some of the youths present were also urged to visit the Gbagada General Hospital and Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, LASUTH ikeja to donate blood to the injured.
