Governor Udom Emmanuel Honours Lady for Outstanding Academic Performance
Akwa Ibom State Government has reiterated its commitment to celebrate it citizens who have achieved excellence in Academics, Talents, Vocational skills and other endeavours.
The State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, stated this at Government House, Uyo during a visit by Miss Christiana Udoh, a distinctive graduate of Advanced Chemical Engineering at the prestigious Imperial College, South Kensington, London – United Kingdom.
He congratulated her for distinguishing herself in educational pursuit having blazed the trail as the first Nigerian to earn a Distinction in Post Graduate studies in Advanced Chemical Engineering.
Governor Emmanuel who noted that Christiana’s excellent academic record has brought her to limelight conferred on her the honour as a Dakkada Ambasador and congratulated her for making the State proud in her scholarly pursuit.
The State Chief Executive urged her not to rest on her oars but to strive to inspire other youths to greatness and congratulated Christiana’s father, a former National Assembly member, Dr. Esio Okwong Udoh, for his vision to invest in his children’s education within and outside the country.
He pointed out that education is the visa to self – worth and societal advancement stressing that educational system under his watch is being upgraded to enable students access facilities as their contemporaries in other clime.
He said that ten Schools in each of the Federal Constituencies of the state have been selected and upgraded to model status with ultra modern Facilities as Sports Development Centres.
The selected schools, Governor Emmanuel maintained, would be given full boarding status to enable students participate effectively in both academics and extra curricular activities.
The Latest Dakkada Ambassador, Christiana Esio Udoh, expressed appreciation to God for his grace and to Governor Emmanuel, for the honour done her.
She expressed joy that her modest effort has been so acknowledged by her home State and pledged to sustain the tempo of distinction as well as encourage other youths to stand out in their academic and vocational pursuit.
The Akwa Ibom golden girl, Christiana Udoh, is a native of Urue Offong Oruko Local Government Area, the fourth daughter in the family of six.
Born December 1990, her sojourn in pursuit of the golden fleece began at Monef Kiddies Nursery School, Uyo. She later attended Airforce Comprehensive Secondary School, Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area and Kwame Nkrumah University, Accra, Ghana, where she bagged First Class Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering before proceeding to Imperial College, Kensington, South London for a Masters Programme in Advanced Chemical Engineering.
Christiana is currently working on her PhD dissertation in Chemical Engineering at the Imperial College, on the full sponsorship of the Nigerian Government.
