ABU Graduates 134,149 Including 89 First Class Students
The Ahmadu Bello University, ABU, Zaria, has awarded first degree certificates to 13,149 graduates during the 38th Convocation ceremony for 2013/2014 academic session.
Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ibrahim Garba, said that 89 of the graduating students bagged first class degrees.
In a further breakdown of the results, the VC said a further 2,086 students got Second Class Upper while 7,108 made Second Class Lower. Another 3,161 graduated with Third Class, 262 with Pass and 443 in Unclassified Degree category.
He said that Higher Degrees and Diplomas include 305 Ph.Ds; 2,669 Masters of Arts and Masters of Science; and 1,624 Post Graduate Diplomas.
Garba reminded the graduates that they had been added to the list of alumni of the university and should therefore see themselves as members of the larger ABU family, adding that the university had continued to discharge its mandate of teaching, research innovation and community service diligently.
The VC further revealed that discussions were on with private investors to build more hostels through public-private partnership.
