The senate of the University of Lagos, UNILAG, has elected Folasade Ogunsola, as acting Vice-Chancellor, making her the first female to occupy such a position in the institution.
Ogunsola, who is the institution’s deputy vice-chancellor for development services, secured 135 votes to defeat Ben Ogbojafor, a professor of Business Administration, who polled 31 votes.
Recall that the suspended VC of the institution, Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, was earlier removed by the varsity’s governing council during a meeting presided over by Wale Babalakin, its pro-chancellor and chairman.
The council thereafter named Omololu Soyombo as the acting VC.
