Kanu Nwankwo arrived Russia early to play in the FIFA legends game, but had a terrible start to his trip.
The retired footballer had £8,250 (about N4 million) stolen from his suitcase in Moscow, Russia.
According to The Sun, Kanu reported the money missing when he reached Kaliningrad.
Russia’s Interior Ministry has said two loaders at the airport were the primary suspects.
The spokesperson for the ministry, Irina Volk, said: “The stolen cash was removed [by the loaders] and will soon be returned to the owner.”
