Adebayo Afolabi Emmanuel, is an Agricultural and Economics and also the Director of Socials and Culture, of the Students’ Union Government, Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State.
What inspired you to become the Director of Socials and Culture?
I looked at the poor social life of students in OAU in comparison with institutions like University of Lagos (UNILAG) and others. So I decided to contribute towards the development of the social well being of my fellow students.
How long have been serving as the Director of Socials and Culture?
I have only spent three (3) months in the office.
What were your challenges when you set out to achieve your dream?
My first challenge was the manifesto day, it was like hell was let loose, but we surmounted and came out victorious. Also doing the normal things I used to do seem to be a taboo now, because it’s now difficult for me to see my friends in public and shout at the top of my voice to hail them. Being a student, politics take me away from studies I must confess, but I always find a way to balance it.
Who is your role model?
Andrea Pirlo, an Italian professional footballer who plays for American club New York City FC and the Italy national team.
Future Ambition: I would love to be a minister
