764,677 Corps Members Completed Entrepreneurship Training – NYSC DG

Director – General of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Shuaibu Ibrahim has said 764,677 corps members have so far completed full skill and entrepreneurship training under its Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme.

The director – General said 18,682 have set up businesses through self-help, bank loans and grants from donors after completing the SAED programme.

Ibrahim, who spoke during the closing ceremony of the 2021 NYSC Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Festival, added that 1, 409,000 corps have been sensitized on the need for self-empowerment since the commencement of the SAED programme.

The DG said the SAED programme was instituted in 2012 as a platform for the Scheme to contribute towards tackling the challenge of unemployment amongst our teeming graduate youths.

Ibrahim said corps members, in successive batches, have shown more than a passing interest in the SAED programme which has helped many to establish and successfully nurture their own businesses.

He said: “Since the institutionalisation of the SAED programme, up to one million four hundred and nine thousand (1.409,000) Corps have been sensitized on the need for self-empowerment. Out of these, seven hundred and sixty-four thousand six hundred and seventy-seven (764,677) have so far completed the full skill and entrepreneurship training while up to eighteen thousand six hundred and eighty-two (18,682) have set up businesses through self-help, Bank loans and grants from donors.
