(In Commemoration Of Nigerias’s 6oth Independence Anniversary) Ceremony Held In Grand Style
Recently, Nigerians in Ghana gathered at the ultra modern Mikado Event Center, Accra to honour some Impactful Nigerians who are making great strides in Ghana.
The 60 MOST IMPACTFUL NIGERIANS IN GHANA AWARD with the theme: “Celebrating the Hardwork, Entrepreneurial spirit and Passionate Commitment of Nigerians in Ghana” was massive as influential Nigerians from all walks of life graced the occasion.
In his opening speech, Comrade Barry Ndu Nwaihim who is the convener of the event thanked God who made the event a possibility. He appreciated all those who supported in various ways to ensure a successful programme. Comrade Barry urged the award recipients to see the honour as a reason to continue impacting society. He noted that there were many more Nigerians who are doing great things in Ghana but for the purpose of celebrating Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary, 60 great individuals were chosen. The convener acknowledged that time has gone when every negative thing is attached to Nigeria, saying that all over the world citizens are breaking records in academics, health and every single sector of the economy. He tasked the recipients to go back to their different communities and remain a shining light that would always project the image of our country in positive ways.
Madam Esther Arewa, the acting Nigerian High Commissioner thanked the organizers for such laudable initiative at a time when the country is working to consolidate its good relationship with Ghana. Mr. Ibrahim Hong, the Head of Chancery who read her speech promised that the High Commission would continue to partner with positive minded Nigerians in Ghana to promote the image of the country. She urged every Nigerian anywhere in the world to remain good Ambassadors as Nigerians are very innovative, creative and intelligent. She said that the doors of the High Commission remain open for all citizens resident in Ghana.
Hon. Abike Dabiri, the CEO of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) in her speech expressed her joy in knowing that there were so many Nigerians doing positive things in Ghana. She explained that if all Nigerian citizens in Ghana who are doing great things are to be honoured, the hall would not have contained everyone. She urged recipients to take the Award seriously and see it as a great Honour.
The 60 Awardees were inducted into the Impactful Nigerians in Ghana Hall of Fame as they were mandated to continue initiating projects that would better the lives of people.
It was a great event as organizers assured that another group of Nigerians would be inducted into the HALL OF FAME IN 2021.
