
40 Varsity Students renounce Cultism

40 remorseful students of University of Calabar and Cross River University of Technology comprising of 30 males and 10 females have reportedly renounced their cult membership following encouragement they received from the Campus Cult Eradication Foundation (CCEF).
This was revealed by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) report. The report also stated that the youths who belong to various cult groups including Pyrate confraternity, Vikings, Black Axe, Klans, among others did not turn over any arms at the event.
According to the National Coordination of the Foundation, Samuel Ejembi, he said that the CCEF was established in a bid to eradicate cultism in tertiary institutions and the society at large.
He also added that the foundation had the mandate to rehabilitate and reintegrate repentant cultists into the society.
The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Jimoh Ozi-Obeh who was represented by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Irene Ugbo commended the youths for taking the bold step to renounce their various cult membership. He also assured them of adequate police protection and urged them to abstain from cult activities.
