3MTT Programme Graduates 60,000 Tech Talents

60,000 participants have graduated from the Federal Government Three Million Technical Talents  Programme driven by the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy.

3MTT initiative is a programme designed to advance Nigeria’s digital economy and position the nation as a leader in digital skills.

The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Bosun Tijani, disclosed this in a statement on Friday following the 3MTT Community Impact Summit in Abuja.

The summit celebrated the achievements of the graduating fellows and showcased the initiative’s milestones in equipping young Nigerians with technical expertise.

“This cohort of over 60,000 fellows is a testament to the energy, drive, and ingenuity of young Nigerians. From diverse backgrounds, they have come together to acquire new skills, build networks, and empower themselves while positively impacting their communities,” Tijani said.

The minister expressed confidence in the graduates’ ability to lead in the innovation and technology sectors, emphasising their role in accelerating Nigeria’s digital transformation.

“I look forward to seeing our fellows at the forefront of innovation and technology as we work to grow our digital economy,” he added.

The minister also underscored the need to sustain and expand such initiatives, describing them as critical to achieving Nigeria’s digital economy goals.

Launched in 2022, the 3MTT initiative aims to produce three million technically proficient individuals over four years in fields such as artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, cloud computing, and other emerging technologies.

The first cohort, which concluded in 2023, graduated 31,270 fellows, surpassing its target of 30,000 participants.

Earlier, Tijani announced a N1bn funding commitment from IHS Towers, a digital infrastructure company.

This funding will support the initiative for the next three years, including covering the salaries of 37 learning community managers stationed across various locations nationwide.

By empowering young Nigerians with cutting-edge skills, the government aims to foster innovation, drive economic growth, and secure Nigeria’s place in the global digital economy.
