Freshman Yano’s story highlights the sacrifices many musicians make in their search for fame and fortune through music.Prior to setting his sights on the music however, Yano has been longing to further his education but several factors got in the way of his dreams. According to him, the educational system wanted to rob him of his ambition to become successful, when he couldn’t get into the university to further his education.
ABOUT HIS MUSIC
The 20 year old speaks on his music “I want to make music that will make people relax and feel good. Highlife is a preferred genre for me because it’s a sound I vibe to, not necessarily cause I grew up listening to the music. “Music has always been my source of hope” says Yano, the Pepe Records artiste who recently released his debut single titled ‘’Reconnect’’, an urban-highlife track which serve as a precursor to his yet-to-be titled body of work (EP) which is still work in progress.

GOING BACK TO SCHOOL
“Hopefully, At some point when my career permits, I am still going to further my education. It’s something I am passionate about. That’s how I ventured into music as well. I found myself around people like Holy Joezy who was into the music and was partly involved in my development as an artist” Yano says.
GETTING SIGNED TO PEPE RECORDS
Signing on to a label that can support one’s career, is every upcoming Nigerian artist’s dream as it alleviate them of the huge commercial bills accrued in pushing a career.
