Praiz now famous
Praiz, christened Praise Ugbede Adejo needs no introduction as a Nigerian singer, songwriter and music producer who shot into the limelight when he featured on the 2008 edition of MTN’s Project Fame. He is best known for his hit tracks, ‘Rich and Famous’, ‘Mercy’ and ‘Oshey’ featuring African music legend, Awilo Logomba. His style of music can be termed as a mix between soul and R&B. He has also been dubbed by many as Nigeria’s John Legend due to his unique voice that is capable of hitting high notes gracefully.
He grew up in Kaduna with his father who was a pastor and he used to sing and play the drums in the church choir when he was much younger. Praiz grew up listening to the likes of Barry White and has cited artistes like Michael Jackson, BoyzIIMen, John Legend, Carl Thomas and Joe as his musical influences. He once revealed that he never planned to become a musician. He attended the Kaduna Polytechnic where he studied computer science.
He has worked with several top notch artistes including Cobhams Asuquo, Bez, Awilo, M.I, Efa and others. One of his most notable works so far has to be his collaboration alongside Nigerian alternative musician Bez on the hit track, ‘That Stupid Song’. The video went on to become first of African video to make a world premiere on BET 106 & Park.
Praiz has a reputation for churning out love ballads and soft songs laden with gentle instrumentals but he has also proven his diversity in terms of music as he switches things up from time to time with commercially appealing songs like ‘Mercy’ and ‘Oshey’ which were also well received. He has indeed made a name for himself in Nigeria music scene and beyond.
Praiz has been nominated for World Best Male Artist, World Best Live Act and World Best Entertainer of the Year at the World Music Awards as well as the Voice of the year award. He has also been nominated numerous times at the Headies Awards.

He also released singles like ‘Heartbeat’ and Amazing Grace’ all in 2015 and in 2016 he featured Jesse Jagz and Stonebwoy on ‘Body Hot’.
