Oyo College of Education Suspends union activities, Directs staff to resume Monday

The management of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education (EACOED) has suspended activities of all academic and non academic unions in the institution, DAILY POST reports.

The institution in a circular obtained by DAILY POST Sunday morning while suspending the activities of the union also ordered all staff of the institution to with immediate effect, resume work tomorrow, Monday, August 6, 2018.

EACOED in the circular dated Friday, 3rd August 2018 which was signed by Mr. T. I Adeniran who doubles as its registrar and council secretary, declared that shut down of business activities of the institution by members of COEASU and NASU had robbed the institution its Internal Generated Revenue.

The institution in the release titled, “Suspension of EACOED chapter of Colleges of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), and Non Academic Staff Union (NASU), activities and directive to resume work” urged all staff laying siege on the school main gate to vacate without further delay.

The institution after the emergency meeting held on Friday, while appealing to the workers to sign the appropriate registers which would be provided to show the level of compliance to the resumption directive also advised the protesting staff who are disrupting free flow of human and vehicular activities within the institution to desist from doing so in their own interest.

DAILY POST recalls that EACOED, one of the six tertiary institutions owned by Oyo State government had in December joined other institutions to embark on an indefinite strike over alleged non-payment of salaries of workers.
