NUT Wants Teachers to Contribute in Planning Curriculum

The Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) has appealed to proper authorities to allow teachers contribute in planning school curriculum, in order to enhance learning and proper implementation.

According to the NUT’s Deputy Chairman, Mr. Adesina Adedoyin, the involvement of teachers in the planning of curriculum was very important.

He said that the suitable norms and values of the nation should be considered while planning the curriculum, to impact positively on learning in the country. He added that much emphasis had been laid on norms and values that were foreign to our culture while planning the curriculum.

The unionist said that such development had made children to lose touch of the nation’s rich culture and heritage. He then urged the government to employ graduates who understood the pedagogy of teaching, to achieve the desired standards.
