NUC Approves Bayero Business School

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the establishment of the Bayero Business School to commence admission for three postgraduate programmes.

This was contained in a letter to the Vice Chancellor dated 1st June, 2016 with reference number NUC/AS/FO7/VOL.1/183, which says that the Bayero Business School programmes will be run with effect from the 2016/2017 academic session.

The letter signed by the Commission’s Director, Academic Standards, Dr. Gidado Bello Kumo, on behalf of the Executive Secretary noted that the programmes under Bayero Business School are Master’s in Entrepreneurship (professional), Postgraduate Diploma in Management and Master of Business Administration (MBA).

Bayero University was, however, reminded that the award of such degrees must only be done by relevant Academic Units as approved by the Commission’s Management Committee.

The Commission further noted that the Physical and Health Education programme had been split into B.Ed. Physical Education and B.Ed. Health Education, saying, however that the approval did not cover the part-time mode of delivery of the undergraduate programmes.

The Commission had noted that all the programmes shall bear only the approved titles and nomenclatures and, as such, any change would require the re-approval of the Commission, urging also the University to provide adequate human and material resources for the development and growth of the programmes.
