FG making Effort to address Lecturers’ Demands –Minister

Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, has pleaded with striking lecturers to be patient with the government, saying the issues that led to the strike will soon be addressed.

Speaking on Thursday at the 10th convocation of the Federal Polytechnic Offa, Kwara State, the minister said the Federal Government was making efforts to address the demands of the various unions.

A total of 2,563 HND and OND graduates of 2017/2018 academic session received certificates and diplomas on the occasion.

The minister, who noted that peace and tranquillity were the fertilisers that would keep the seed of development growing, said, “Peaceful coexistence is very important in our educational institutions because effective learning can only take place in a peaceful environment.”

The Rector of the institution, Dr Lateef Olatunji, said the 2017/2018 set produced 2,352 HND graduates, including 796 full-time students and 1,767 part-time students in the OND category.

The rector, who disclosed that the institution had commenced Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) programmes in affiliation with the Federal University of Technology, Minna, said most of the courses offered in the polytechnic had been accredited by the NBTE.
