John Terry sets to leave for Aston Villa this summer

Chelsea legend John Terry is on the verge of sealing a summer switch to Aston Villa, following his exit from the Stamford Bridge. The 36-year-old left the West London side at the end of last season, after a trophy-laden career that saw him lead the Blues to a number of trophies.

However, Terry fell out of favour under Antonio Conte last season, due to inconsistent displays and injuries coupled with the excellent partnership of David Luiz, Cesar Azplicueta and Gary Cahill in a back three defence.

Following his departure from Chelsea, a host of clubs in England have been credited with interest in the veteran defender who has expressed his desire to continue playing despite his age.

The likes of Swansea, Bournemouth and West Bromvich Albion have approached the defender about the possibility of signing him this summer.

But reports in the Sun claim that Terry has decided to join Aston Villa after holding talks with club manager, Steve Bruce during a golf course.

The report also has it that Terry will be on a £60,000 per week wage bill and will also pocket £2million if Villa wins promotion next season.

Terry was handed a mouthwatering offer by Chinese Super League side, Tianjin Quanjian with reports that the Chinese club is ready to pay the defender £10million per year to make the switch
