Chelsea finally wins race to sign £35m Man United target

Chelsea is finally closing on the signature of AS Monaco midfielder, Tiemoue Bakayoko, according to reports.

The Blues have been monitoring the transfer of the Frenchman since the end of last season that saw the 22-year-old help his side to an impressive outing in the French Ligue 1 and on the continent.

Reports in the Daily Mail claim that Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has told the board that he wants to sign Bakayoko this summer, with reports that the midfielder will cost £35 million.

The report also have it that Monaco are also resigned to the idea of losing Bakayoko this summer and have signed Soualiho Meite as a potential replacement.

Manchester United are also keeping tabs on the transfer situation, with suggestions that Jose Mourinho considers the French star has one of the quality players to target this summer but there are strong indications that Bakayoko has chosen to join Chelsea instead as he is thrilled at the opportunity to work with Conte at the Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have been criticised by a section of their fans for their inactivity so far this summer, while their league rivals have started making moves to secure signings early on into the window.

Prior reports even suggest that Conte was furious about the club’s approach in the transfer market and has expressed his displeasure towards the board.
